Have you been feeling led to really make an impact and align your purpose with what you do? Well, if you’re an entrepreneur or God’s been calling you to be one, this blog post is for you. You see, God gives us all different talents. Typically, we don’t think they are talents because they come easily to us. In other cases, like a beautiful diamond, it’s buried and just needs to be uncovered.
Now, before we go into the tips on how to reveal your calling from Jesus, all Christians have the same ultimate calling, and that is to bring glory to God. How we do it is specific to each of us, and that’s where the question of how to reveal your calling from Jesus comes into play.
In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through some tips on how to reveal your personal calling.
Tip #1 — Become an Entreprayer
In a recent random poll I did with Christian entrepreneurs, 98% told me that they didn’t even think to pray for their business. Do you pray for guidance with your business? Here are some prayers that may help you as you become an Entreprayer. Sometimes God hides our gifts from us when we’re trying to do things in our own strength.
- “Thank you for ________, _________, ____________. Please help me uncover my God-given talents so that I can impact the world around me, love what I do, give you the glory, and provide for my family.”
- “God, thank you for ________, _________, ____________. Please continue to guide my steps as an entrepreneur to impact so many people’s lives, share my testimony, and grow in a way that people who stop and ask me “how did you do it” can then hear about your glory.”
- “Jesus, thank you for ________, _________, ____________. Please allow my business desires to meet the needs of the people that I’m supposed to reach. Please allow me to pursue my passion while always seeking the glory of God.”
Tip #2 — Write Your Testimony
You don’t just have to be called into ministry to share your faith with people. “The primary objective of business is serving others to the glory of God.”
We all have faced adversity, whether big or small, in our lives, and here you are, stronger than ever. Sometimes, through adversity, it becomes clear what your God calling is. I want you to get a notepad and answer the following questions.
- Is there something that you’ve been through that you’ve come out on the other side and overcome with His help?
- What did it feel like when you were first in this situation?
- Were there specific steps that you took during this time? What did it feel like taking those steps?
- Did you find talents you realized you had along the way?
- How much faith did you have during this time?
- What does it look like on the other side?
- Do people come to you naturally and ask for help?
Now pause and take a good look at what you just wrote. Do you see your transformation story and your testimony?
Tip #3 — See Your Talents & Gifts
When it comes to your talents, the easier way God reveals this to you is through other people.
People will naturally come to you and ask you either how you do something with such ease OR they’ll thank you for how you’ve helped them with something. When you are walking in your calling and using your God-given gifts, other people will be drawn to you naturally. Sometimes it will surprise you how something that comes easily to you doesn’t for other people.
Welcome to your talents and gifts, girl! I’m not saying your business will be an immediate success, but I am saying you will get touches of God’s favor that will take you from the back to the front quickly at times.
Tip #4 — It Won’t Always be Easy
Some people miss their calling because they think once they find it, it will always be easy, joyful, and easy. It won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it.
As the saying goes, “If it were easy, everyone would do it.” Remember, even though life has its lows and highs, when you’re praying, you’re sharing your testimony, and you’re using your God-given talents, you’ll still face life’s ups and downs.
Perseverance: God will give you the strength to get through the hard times.
He’ll send you the right clients, the right mentors, the right social media posts to read, all at the right time. Don’t forget your testimony is always an ever-changing document to add and grow from. He will give you the discipline and the drive to get back up, to do things WAY out of your comfort zone to keep going with your calling.
Tip #5 — Scripture Verses to Help You Along the Way
Here are some of my favorite go-to scripture verses to help you along finding your purpose journey.
- Corinthians 10:31 — “Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
- 1 Peter 4:10 — “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
- Philippians 2:13 — “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
- John 10:10 — “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
